Who is ready to go camping?!?! I know I am! This is my favorite time of the year to grab a tent and sleep underneath the stars. The weather is starting to chill, the leaves are starting to change color, and the time for vegan s’mores over a fire is starting. So, what camping snacks are you planning to bring on your trip?

One brand I plan to bring along is Sunny Fruit. Sunny Fruit started off in Izmir, Turkey where the soil is perfect for creating dried fruits. That’s what this company specializes in! If you are looking for a heathy snack that you can eat while walking around the camp site, enjoying with your breakfast at home, or bringing to work for a small snack, then you have to try out some of their treats!

All of their snacks are organic, no sugar added, gluten-free, kosher (excluding the mulberries), additive-free, and vegan! They have so many different fruits that look amazing, but the two that I tried out today are Dried Apricot and Dried Mulberry.

Dried Apricots

Between the apricots and the mulberries, I was more nervous to try the apricots. So, I started with them, like any other normal human being would. And thank goodness I did!! I have never been a huge fan of fresh apricots but now I am a huge fan of dried apricots!

These dried apricots were soft, still moist, a tiny bit sticky, and had such a nice sweet flavor. There were two different textures found throughout the whole batch. Some of the apricots were soft through the whole fruit, while others had an outer layer that was a bit tougher than the inside but still very soft.

One serving is a great size for a snack. These guys are very filling and after roughly 6 pieces I felt satiated. It was a nice little snack that didn’t leave me feeling heavy but did leave me feeling satisfied. If you love apricots, or even if you don’t, this is such a great way to eat them.

I don’t know about you guys but I always have a huge issue with eating all the fruit in my house before it goes bad. With Sunny Fruit I don’t have that problem because I can keep the bag sealed up until I want to enjoy them. If I don’t finish the snack in one sitting, then I just have to make sure I throw them in the refrigerator to save for the next day.


Dried Mulberries

I was very excited about the dried mulberries! I’ve had fresh mulberries before and loved them. However, these weren’t as great as the fresh fruit – but they weren’t bad either!

The dried mulberries had a slight crunch to them from the first bite, and then right after that they felt like a nice soft fruit. It starts off with a wonderfully sweet taste hitting your mouth, and then shortly after that a fruity bitterness. Finally, there is a sweet aftertaste that leaves you wanting more!

If my husband, who tried these out with me, had to explain it in a few words, he would say they are like “weird raisins”.


Overall, I loved the apricots A LOT more than the mulberries. The mulberries were still good, but if I had to choose I would pick the apricots every time! The apricots were a nice size whereas the mulberries were very small and didn’t feel as filling.

If you are looking for a snack that would be great for camping, hiking, walking, a mid-morning snack, something healthy to snack on at the office, and so much more, you should definitely check out Sunny Fruit!     Oh I love apricots. They are so underrated. I have not been camping since the 80’s. Your idea of camping in September sounds wonderful. Maybe even October would be nice.

    I love camping and snacking during camping sounds like extra fun to me! I normally go for pumpkin seeds lately – it is healthy and gives a long time chewing.

  7. I love dried apricots, they are super yummy :). Have you tried banana chips?, they too are yum but may not be too healthy!!

  8. I do like dried apricots, but I don’t think I’ve ever tried mulberries. Other favorites of mine are dried pineapple and craisins (dried cranberries).

    After reading this post I have an immediate desire to go camping 🙂 You described so beautifully! Dried fruit indeed stems from Turkey and I think it’s an excellent idea to take dried fruit when camping. I’ll give Sunny Fruit a try, thanks for the review!
