The Month of September

YouTube Unboxing Video for Septemeber

For the month of September I got this eco-friendly All-Purpose Home Cleaner by Meliora! You can use this bad boy for cleaning any surface in your home (make sure to do a test patch first)! And it is so simple to use, refill, and understand!

Meliora (Latin for “Better”)

Meliora is a brand that has focused on creating a cleaner and greener world. It is their guarantee that all of their products will work, are good for people, and good for the planet. The company is Cruelty-Free, Vegan, Made Safe certified, Certified B Corporation, and partnered with 1% for the Planet. Once I saw how dedicated this company was to creating a cleaner and better world, I couldn’t wait to try their All-Purpose Home Cleaner!

How To Use

This All-Purpose Home Cleaner is SO EASY to use! When you purchase this product (or receive it from your Mighty Fix subscription) it comes with a spray bottle filled with one use of soap crystals and a container with refill crystals. All you have to do is fill the reusable spray bottle with warm water and shake until the crystals dissolve. Voila! You are all set to start doing your test patches!

How To Refill

Once you have used up everything (which should be done within 6 months because there are no preservatives in this guy), you will need to refill it. This is also super easy! All you have to do is grab your refill container and take 1 Tbsp of the crystals, put them in your spray bottle, fill the spray bottle with warm water, and shake. You are all set!

Understanding What Is In It

One of the things I love about Meliora is you never have to guess what is in their products. They list everything on their products and if you go on their product page you will see what everything is!

“Nerd Alert: More Detailed Information On Ingredients:
Coconut Oil is the base vegetable oil used for our soap. Using only coconut oil results in a long-lasting, hard bar that is great for cleaning.

Sodium Cocoate: This is the chemical name of saponified (that is, ‘made into soap’) coconut oil. It’s the chemical that grabs onto both dirt and water to do the cleaning.

Glycerin: This substance is chemically a type of alcohol and is naturally created when the oil is converted into soap. Glycerin is known for skin-softening abilities and is an effective solvent, meaning it can dissolve substances such as stains and dirts

Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil: There is a small amount of coconut oil left in the soap after conversion to sodium cocoate. This is because we use sodium hydroxide, or lye, in the conversion process and leaving excess oil ensures there is no remaining lye in the finished product. Some soapmakers refer to this as ‘superfatting’ and more oil remaining results in a softer, more moisturizing bar. Our coconut soap bars have only a small amount of excess oil, so they are not the luxurious body bar type and more of a ‘get the job done’ bar.

Water: Water is used in the soapmaking process as a substance that dissolves lye and then is a medium so the lye can reach all of the oil to react. After being useful in this process, the water is allowed to evaporate from the soap over a period of several weeks, and the resulting dried bar has very little water. There is only about 5% water remaining in the finished bars, thus making them more shelf stable than a liquid soap that would require a preservative due to the high (about 60%) water.”

You’ll never have to guess what something is anymore!! They do such a wonderful job of explaining what is in their products. I love it!

This is Great and All … But Does it Work??

Great Question!! It does!!

I just recently moved to a new house and still needed to clean a lot of grime from the previous owners. So, I decided to take this for a spin on some of my messes and theirs.

The first place I tried it was on my windows. Now, I know what you are thinking. ARE YOU NUTS?! This All-Purpose Home Cleaner is not for windows! It’s for “Floors, walls, countertops, even the greasy fingerprint smudges on the fridge.” What are you doing? You are going to get streaks everywhere! And I did.

However, I can use a different cleaner to do a fresh cleaning. What I really needed to do first was get all the grim off of the windows. And boy did it work! Right away I could see all of the grime being wiped away. With one stroke it would disappear. And it really didn’t leave a lot of streak residue. I’m sure if I had the right type of towel I could eliminate those streaks completely. But even so, I was amazed by what this was able to do with my nasty windows!

I also used it to get ride of some sticky residue left on the window frames. Previously, I had to scrub and scrub and scrub to get the grime off, and then there was still some sticky residue. I had to go over the same spot again and again. It was so annoying! So, I took this All-Purpose House Cleaner and put it to the test on my worst window.

I knew this was going to be a terrible spot to clean so I let the spray sit for a while on the residue. Then I started to scrub. I did have to work it a bit but it came off on my first try! I was able to clean all the grime off with one use!! Now, what about the stickiness? It was there – barely! With the next spray I was able to get rid of it completely!! This saved me so much time and energy. I couldn’t have been more thankful!

The best part about all of it! You barely have to use any of it! A few squirts and you are set to clean a large surface! That means this will last you a while (depending on how much you clean). But, do make sure to use it all up in 6 months!

This product works great! And the best part of all is that I’m not wasting a ton of plastic to use it. I have my reusable glass spray bottle and all I have to do from there is buy my container of crystals! So, not only am I helping the planet by not wasting so much plastic, I am also helping my wallet. The refill is only $7.99 for 18 uses! Think how much you could save!!

So, Is There Anything Wrong with it?

Another great question! The only thing I wasn’t a fan of is when I would breath it in. Now, granted, it isn’t toxic but it still felt weird to breathe in and sometimes I would cough a bit if I breathed in a bit too much. This isn’t something you will always have to worry about. Most of the time I never breathed it in, but there were occasional moments where I would get too close to where I was spraying or would spray a lot. It was in those moments that I would breathe it in. Again, non-toxic, but still not fun. So, make sure you don’t spray too much and don’t get too close.

Overall, I have loved using this All-Purpose Home Cleaner and plan to continue to use it! Want to try it out yourself? Check them out below!

Comments from the Company!

Shipping: Of course, as you know, we’re available on, which I believe services Canada (although I don’t know specifics). We also have our own website,, where we offer free shipping on US orders over $40. We do ship to Canada, but do not have a free shipping option. We aren’t set up for broad, international export yet, as the shipping costs can be prohibitive in most instances. Other international orders should contact us directly and we’ll see what we can do 🙂 You can also get us via, with many products available via Prime in the US.”

Allergic Reactions: We design our products to be as people-friendly as possible. One key aspect of this is to list 100% of the ingredients you’re bringing into your home on the bottle/can/box. That way, if you know you’re sensitive to something (e.g. lavender essential oil), you’re able to avoid it before it enters your home.

We’ve had all our ingredients and products screened by MADE SAFE, and they’ve certified we’re using good ingredients. Now, that doesn’t mean no one anywhere will ever have a reaction to them, as people can be allergic/sensitive to almost anything (e.g. lavender essential oil [again], or baking soda in deodorants). If someone (or their family member or pet) is exceedingly sensitive to even the mildest of chemicals, we advise having your doctor/vet review our ingredients against the known sensitivities to find out if they’re ok to use in your home.

We’re also continually finding and reviewing new ingredient information, either in the process of new product development, or just keeping up with the industry. If we find information that would cause us to need to review our ingredient choices, we would absolutely do so.”

At the end of the day, our products must:

  1. Work. If it doesn’t work, who cares how “safe” or “green” it is
  2. Be People-Friendly. That’s why we list all the ingredients  and work with people who review our ingredients for safety to people and the planet.
  3. Be Planet-Friendly. Our ingredients are 100% biodegradable, and do not bioaccumulate. Also, we’re Certified Cruelty-Free by the Leaping Bunny Program, so there’s no ongoing animal testing on any of our products – or the ingredients we buy to make our products.

If we can’t hit all 3 of those, we won’t sell the product. If we find that one of those 3 legs needs attention, we’ll do our best to address the issue. Thanks for being honest, open, and letting us know about a potential issue. I look forward to learning more about this so we can figure out what can be done.”
